Hello Folks,
I did it. I made a video for Little Black Shoes. This piece along with the song and the essay completes the Little Black Shoes Trio.
Moving to Los Angeles to get into the entertainment business may as well be the most obvious thing a person can do, and by God, that’s what I did almost 9 years ago. What I’ve tried to convey with this trio of works is very specifically (from my perspective) what it feels like day-to-day to be within this pursuit. The expectation versus the reality. The self-loathing projected outward. The thirst for validation that you notice in yourself and others. This thirst (along with methodical LSD-based behavior manipulation and incessant meddling by the CIA) is why Sharon Tate was killed. Just kidding! (Only kind of kidding). What I mean to say is that LA is a great place for culture and an even greater place for cults.
I’m trying to convey all that but I’m also just talking shit. Clowning on fools. Being on my bullshit. Shit. You know me. Tahaha.
This video features a series of memes I made that are inspired by the lyrics of the song. It’s a chaotic, low-budget video that is meant in part to recreate the sensory overload of being online.
You might think this video is “shitty” or “unrefined”, but I say it’s “punk”, “post-modern”, and “spammy”.
Now that I’ve done a great disservice to my art by trying to explain it, I’ll shut up and let it speak for itself. Please share this stuff and thanks so much for reading, watching, and listening. I adore you all.
P.S. No strays intended for any person or place that shows up in the video. Just pretend that you’re online. (You are)
